Q. I have purchased 500 grams of graviola powder from Raintree Nutrition, Carson City, NV. I was curious if there was a way to determine that the product that I received is in fact derived from the graviola tree? Worked in clinical research most of my adult career in Los Angeles, My partner has developed an aggressive from of prostrate cancer. Would like to administer this as a prophylaxis against metastasis.
A. The only way to know whether a particular product, powder or pill, is true to its label is to send a sample to a lab that does HPLC testing. For most people this is not a practical step to take.

These are mostly cosmetic changes, though, and not a sign of toxic effects, according to the National Cancer Institute. A 2005 study in the Journal of Clinical Oncology suggested patients try wearing special "frozen mittens" to keep their hands very cold as they receive intravenous chemotherapy. It is possible the cold temperatures will reduce the amount of the drug that reaches the patients' hands. According to the study, only 11 percent of patients wearing the frozen mittens ended up with nail problems, compared with 51 percent of other patients.

Radiation pneumonitis or esophagitis may be more likely with the combination of doxorubicin and XRT than with XRT alone. Prior XRT to the heart/mediastinum also increases the risk of doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy.

Endomyocardial biopsy data have demonstrated that the cellular morphological changes in patients who received doxorubicin and who were previously treated with cardiac or mediastinal XRT are markedly different and more severe than in treated patients without a history of cardiac or mediastinal XRT. Prior cardiac or mediastinal XRT appears to portend a higher risk of doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy. [ Ref ]

And then I had the camera, which was not too unpleasant I have to say, at all. And I actually just watched the whole thing on the television screen, and it was rather fascinating, to be, I have to be honest. That rather fascinated me. Because I do like watching hospital programmes on the telly. Obviously it's not quite the same when it's you on the telly [laughs] you know what I mean? And, so that was it, but they did say that the effect afterwards could be either nausea, there were three things but I can't remember what the third one was, or cramp. And there was something else, but I have to admit I had the cramp, really really bad, that was worse than the whole rest of the procedure.

Really.

Yes really, it was terrible. It was really, really painful.

Tummy pain?

Oh yeah. And I'd still got them by the time I got home; I had to lay on the sofa all night with a hot water bottle. And that was really, really bad; I really have to say that was worse than any of what I'd gone through.
